Yarrowee Creek and Canadian Creek Hike 14km 17th January 2019  By Jan Herperger When:   A very warm and humid 17th January morning Who: Fourteen sweaty U3A Ballarat Hikers Why: Because it was fun and the companionship was terrific. It was also an excuse to try out the new walkie talkies. (thanks to a generous donation from Nina Netherway) What: Beginning at Andrew and Ingrid's home we walked a 14 km loop taking in the sights along the Canadian Creek trail, down the hill past the old tip and turned north onto the leafy Eureka Track (formerly known as the Wallaby Track) alongside the Yarrowee River. New Years Hike - Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park 12km New Years Hike 3rd January 2019 By Andrew Parker On a beautiful summer’s morning 23 hikers set off from our gathering point at Pipers Restaurant on Lake Wendouree, after first welcoming Jenette, Judy and Glenda to the Hiking Group. We had decided to walk around Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park, our ‘go-to’ hike when forecast temperatures are in excess of 30 degrees. Returning to the Lake we continued our clockwise circumnavigation amongst throngs of others who were also out enjoying the benefits of our sometimes-under-appreciated magnificent asset. We arrived back at Pipers just after 10 o’clock with the temperature up to a pleasant 25 degrees, well below the 33-degree top. M
